ROAD TRIP-SUMMER 2006(Sheringham)

Sheringham

Sheringham,  a small fishing village, with narrow streets, Edwardian and Victorian houses, it also has a local railway and museum, with steam trains running 5 miles to Holt from February to December. It is a popular destination for tourists, being only a few miles from Cromer. The Beach is mainly shingle, along a cliff face, with coastal walks. National Trust Parks and the Splash Tropical Leisure Centre are located on the edge of the town.

As well as outstanding displays of rhodedendrons and azaleas, there are 15 kinds of magnolia, maples, oak, sweet chestnut, beech and scots pine. May/June time is the best time to visit.

For spectacular views of the Norfolk Coast and Sheringham Park, walk past the Hall and climb the steps to the gazebo. The gazebo was opened in 1988 by the Prince of Wales.

This is a pic of Sheringham Hall, now owned by the National Trust, within the grounds of the Park. One day when I’m a millionaire I hope to own a gaff like this so I can hold some wicked all night parties and annoy the cows. You’re all invited…..
